Abstract. In the structure of cultural heritage objects, from the point of view of the organization of their protection, the exterior objects of the material and spatial environment in the form of functioning and ruined complexes occupy the greatest complexity. The protection of these objects requires the establishment of various kinds of restrictions on economic activity both, in fact, in their space and in the surrounding territories. This article is devoted to the definition of typological characteristics and general approaches to the protection of man-made and natural cultural heritage objects, as well as the allocation of protection zones and regulatory restrictions on the territories surrounding these objects.
