Public hearings for the draft of the unified document of territorial planning and urban zoning were held in Surgut. The document is related to flagship projects that are included in the socio-economic development strategy of the city.
– The document is valid until 2044. By that time, the projected number of residents is expected to be 570 thousand people. The shortage of territories is obvious. 50% are natural and recreational areas that need to be preserved and which cannot be used for construction. These are forests, urban forests, and vast water bodies. The total area of these territories is immediately consumed by 50%. We need to reconstruct built-up areas to use it more efiicient. In terms of placement of social infrastructure facilities, there is unsatisfied demand - we are talking about healthcare, cultural, sports, and educational institutions. The city is developing rapidly, it is necessary to improve the infrastructure, which is what we are trying to do. We definitely place functional zones, we place specialized development zones, where, after all, large social infrastructure facilities are also located - sports, education, specialized development zones are allocated for them, – note Veronika Zykina, NII PG project manager.
