On February 11-12, 2025, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University hosted the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Innovative Approaches in Urban Planning: science, Education, practice."
The event was held under the patronage of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Building Sciences (RAACS) and was organized by the Council for Urban Development of the Leningrad Region in cooperation with the Committee for Urban Policy of the Leningrad Region, NII PG and Peter the Great St. Petersburg State University.
The moderator of the plenary session was Yuri Rysin – RAACS Corresponding Member, Acting Academician-Secretary of the Department of Urban Planning of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Chairman of the Southern Territorial Branch.
The main topics of the conference:
- Innovative approaches in urban planning
- Integration of science, education and practice
- The Federal Master Planning Agenda
- Digitalization in architecture and urban planning/
Before the plenary session, a cooperation agreement was signed between Peter the Great St. Petersburg State University and the Committee for Urban Planning Policy of the Leningrad Region.
The participants in the signing were Andrey Rudskoy, Rector of the University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Igor Kulakov, Chairman of the Committee of Urban Planning Policy of the Leningrad Region, and Pavel Spirin, NII PG Director, RAACS Academician, made a presentation at the plenary session of the first day: "Urban planning documentation as a tool for strategic development of the territory."
At the end of the first day of the conference, a business game was held, during which participants discussed key aspects of master planning.
The second day of the conference was divided into two parallel sections:
- Project session "Development of the project "Concept of quarterly development of the Leningrad Region site" from the Setl Group holding
- NII PG team took an active part in the panel discussion "Digitalization in Urban planning and architecture".
Sergey Mityagin spoke about the development of urban planning science in Russia.
Danil Mareev reported on urban planning documentation as a basis for creating digital twins and smart cities.
Olga Druzina talked about the draft revision of the Code of Rules 42.13330 "Urban Planning. Planning and construction of urban and rural settlements.
The conference has become an important platform for discussing topical urban planning issues, sharing experiences and establishing new partnerships.
