Victor Revyakin is an outstanding Siberian geographer, ecologist, and founder of the geography faculty at Altai State University. Victor Revyakin made an invaluable contribution to the study of glacio-hydro-climatic conditions and resources of Altai and Central Asia, described the glaciers of the Katunsky Range, and is the author of over 200 scientific publications, maps, and atlases. He is an honorary member of the Russian Geographical Society and a distinguished worker of education in the Russian Federation.
More than 100 reports were presented at the conference, including a report by Pavel Spirin, NII PG Director, academician of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences (RAACS) "The Role of Geographical Research in Building Sustainable Urban Systems."
The report focused on the role of geographical research in building sustainable urban systems. Comprehensive consideration of natural, demographic, economic, and cultural features of the territory allows for the formation of a well-thought-out urban policy. Special attention is paid to historical and modern disproportions in the spatial development of Russia, the need to coordinate the interests of various participants in the process, and the significance of integrating geographical data in developing effective territorial planning strategies.

The conference became an important platform for discussing modern trends in the development of geography, urban planning, and sustainable regional development. Participants noted the relevance of an interdisciplinary approach in solving problems of preserving natural heritage, developing small towns, and digitalizing spatial data.
