Land planning documentation of the embankment area of the Gelendzhik resort city received the highest award of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences (RAACS) – Gold Medal. The award was given based on the results of the competition for the best scientific and creative works in the field of urban planning for 2025.
The 11-kilometer coastal zone planning project was developed by NII PG team (project manager Pavel Spirin, co-project manager Irina Popova, Evgeny Sokolov, Mikhail Vinokurov, Maryama Gurbandi, and others), with the participation of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Krasnodar Territory (Ilya Pozdnyakov) and the Institute for Urban Planning and Development of the Krasnodar Territory (Natalya Mashtalir, Viktoriya Sosina).

According to the project, the embankment will feature a yacht marina, an outdoor cinema, bicycle paths, observation decks overlooking the Black Sea, the Wine City complex, and a sea organ. The project also includes the expansion of existing beaches by 15.5 hectares and the creation of new beaches with an area of 5.7 hectares.

The award ceremony took place in Moscow, at the Central House of Architects. Medals and diplomas were presented to the laureates by RAACS President Dmitry Shvidkovsky, who praised the presented project, noting its scientific validity and significance for the development of coastal areas.

The project manager, RAACS Academician Pavel Spirin thanked the scientific community for the recognition:
"Our project for the embankment layout sets a new standard for territorial planning in Russian regions and demonstrates a harmonious combination of functionality, aesthetics, and social orientation".
