From April 8 to 10, 2026, the All-Russian scientific conference "Science Week of the Civil Engineering Institute 2026" was held at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. The event, held in a mixed format, brought together undergraduate and graduate students, and young scientists from universities across Russia and abroad.
The conference opened with the section "Prospects of Modern Urban Planning," which presented current research in the fields of territorial planning, the development of agglomerations and industrial areas, and the preservation of cultural heritage.
The section committee included:
– Margarita Perkova, Doctor of Architecture, Director of the Higher School of Design and Architecture at the Institute of Industrial Studies (ISI) of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University;
– Pavel Spirin, Head of the Urban Development Department, Academician of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, NII PG;
– Ekaterina Voznyak, Doctor of Architecture, Professor;
– Maria Drebezgova, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Associate Professor.
– Maria Rybalkina, Candidate of Architecture, Associate Professor;
– Victoria Pedenko, Assistant.

During the section, students from the Urban Development Department presented their dissertation topics and presented research posters. Among them:
- Altysheva A.A. — Definition of zones with requirements for architectural and urban design in populated areas of the Lomonosovsky District of the Leningrad Region;
- Polyanskaya D.V. — Classification of industrial quarries in the Leningrad Region;
- Zatsepin T.A. — Structure of the transport hub system of the Leningrad-St. Petersburg agglomeration;
- Rogozhina V.V. — Involvement of residents in urban planning of a new satellite city of Vladivostok;
- Mironov I.I. — Transformation of stagnant military territories of former closed cities: the urban development potential of the Baltic Spit (the city of Baltiysk);
- Shcheglov N.E. — Analysis and definition of a strategy for the reuse of cultural heritage sites;
- Spiridonova E.V., Romanovich M.A. — Development of a land use planning scheme using 4D modeling;
- A.A. Kotelnikov — Industrial and infrastructure type of agglomerations: economic, social, and environmental characteristics;
- Alia Taghrid — Analysis of the current state of tourism infrastructure in Lattakia Governorate, Syria.
Following the presentations, Pavel Pavlovich Spirin highly praised the quality of the papers presented, noting their relevance and practical significance. He wished all authors successful defense of their dissertations and further scientific achievements.
