NIIPG has completed the development of a master plan for the Gatchina Municipal District. The document will form the basis of the Unified Document for Territorial Planning and Urban Zoning.
In June, the district administration held a meeting to discuss the district's master plan, presented by NIIPG. Participants in the discussion included:
• Lyudmila Neshchadim, District Head;
• Elena Shevyrtalova, Deputy Head of Administration for Territorial Development and Urban Planning;
• Deputy Director for Project and Strategic Issues Danil Mareev, and the project's Chief Urban Planner Ekaterina Mareeva, NIIPG representatives,.
Key Master Plan Decisions
The master plan proposes a differentiated approach to territorial development, taking into account their specific characteristics and potential:
The northern part of the district is positioned as a territory of innovation and production. The emphasis is on creating new jobs in the industrial and scientific sectors, which will strengthen the region's economic foundation.
The eastern part has been designated as a zone of active growth and investment attraction. Major investment projects are planned here, which will drive the district's development.
The southern part will focus on developing tourism and recreation. Plans include landscaping parks, developing historic estates, and creating new recreational areas for residents and visitors to the district.
Comprehensive Development Areas
In addition, the master plan includes a number of strategic initiatives:
• Preservation and Development of Agriculture. The agricultural sector remains an important element of the district's economy; measures to support and stimulate agricultural producers are envisaged.
• Social Infrastructure: construction of new schools and kindergartens, development of sports grounds. A concept for an educational cluster, which will unite educational and development institutions, is being developed separately.
• Modernization of transport infrastructure. Initiatives include the construction of a new railway platform near the NanoCenter and an updated public transport system to improve accessibility and efficiency.
"The master plan doesn't simply prioritize investments and budget expenditures; it builds the district's harmonious development across several areas: economics, social affairs, and the environment. The master plan is our compass for confident movement forward: it aligns the interests of business, government, and residents to create a truly comfortable and sustainable environment", – noted Pavel Spirin, project manager, NII PG Director.
